Chapter 2 (Bug Fixes)
◎ Novice Protection Period ◎
【Congratulations! You have obtained Stone x7, Metal Scrap x5, Iron Ore x2】
【Braised Beef Noodles (Cup) x1, Pickled Cabbage Beef Noodles (Cup) x1, Four-Inch Small Cake x1, Apple x1, Cola x1, Water x3】
【Random Skill Book x1, Small Flowerpot x1】
The dazzling array of items was enough to make anyone’s heart race. Not only were there high-end staples like instant noodles, but it also came with fruit, dessert, and a beverage. Who wouldn’t be captivated by such a sight?
Yu Chi blinked, organizing all the food into her backpack. Including the previous bread and water, it took up a total of five slots. It seemed that with the All-Purpose Fishing Rod, she wouldn’t have to worry about survival resources on the sea.
However, the chest that held these supplies vanished as soon as the items were taken out, much to the disappointment of Yu Chi, who had hoped to repurpose it.
After organizing the food, she neatly stacked the materials on the raft. The upgrade requirements for the raft in the novice quest were [Wood x20, Stone x20, Nails x10], but right now she only had 7 units of stone.
Finally, Yu Chi’s gaze fell upon the random skill book and the small flowerpot. The latter was a pot with red soil, and when touched, a message would pop up indicating that only one seed could be planted in it. As for the former…
【Ding! A random skill book has been detected in the player’s possession. Confirm use?】
【Confirm.】
【Congratulations, player, on drawing “First Aid”!】
【Skill: First Aid

Yu Chi’s eyes flickered. The next second, she activated the skill, producing one bandage and two adhesive bandages.
【Item: Adhesive Bandage
Grade: Common
Description: Restores 5 HP upon use, plus one point per second.】
【Item: Bandage
Grade: Common
Description: Restores 10 HP upon use, plus one point per second.】
What is HP, and it can be increased like this? Yu Chi was bewildered until the system prompted her again.
【Ding! Player has acquired a special skill, unlocking official player status ahead of schedule. Please receive your personal panel!】
Wow…
Yu Chi blinked, and a screen quickly appeared before her.
【Name: DazedFish
Player Status: Official Player Reserve (Can enjoy official player benefits in advance. Will be promoted upon completion of the novice protection quest.)
Level: 1 (0/50)
HP: 100 (Stamina x20)
Skill: First Aid
Stats: Strength (4) Agility (6) Stamina (5)
Spirit (11) Luck (8) [Fixed]】
That was close. Yu Chi wiped the non-existent sweat from her forehead. It was actually a proper personal panel. She had thought it would turn out to be something like—
【Item: Human
Quality: Common
Description: A perfectly ordinary, good-for-nothing shut-in.】
Hahaha… what a pity no one understood her humor. Yu Chi could only talk to herself on the empty sea, then burst into laughter again, looking regretful for all the people who had missed her wit.
At this point, seriously, don’t just throw humans around anywhere. Their mental state can be terrifying!
Getting back on track, Yu Chi’s expression returned to one of calm.
Her gaze fell on the Luck attribute, then calmly shifted back to the All-Purpose Fishing Rod. She now understood why her luck was so good.
This wasn’t entirely unexpected. Her luck had always been good, especially when it came to major events. The outcome would always turn out as she wished. She just hadn’t expected her luck to be quantified after entering the “Sea Survival Game.”
Yu Chi grew up in a single-parent family. Her mother had remarried when she was very young. Her father treated her well enough, but neither of them was good with words, so their relationship was rather stiff.
Thinking of this, she began to sigh again. Even if their relationship was stiff, he was still her dad. But now, it was uncertain if they would ever see each other again.
Her current location was District 1. Would this game have a District 2, a District 3? Were only some people sent into this game, or was everyone on Earth forced into it?
What a load of crap.
Overthinking was pointless. Yu Chi opened the chat channel and scrolled through it. She found that no one was discussing the “Official Player Reserve” status yet. Were they hiding it, or were there just too few people who had become one?
About an hour passed, and the fishing rod twitched again. Yu Chi pulled it up, only to find a rather worn-looking wooden axe this time.
【Item: Wooden Axe
Grade: Common
Description: Might have unexpected effects in certain situations. After all, it can be considered a weapon. Attack Power: 5, Durability: 10/10】
As she was about to cast the rod into the sea for a third time, Yu Chi suddenly noticed something floating on the sea’s surface ahead.
It looked like a large wave of marine debris. She quickly realized that this was the normal way to acquire resources.
Resources were hard to come by on the sea. If others didn’t have her good luck and couldn’t get materials from resource chests, their chances of completing the novice quest would be extremely low.
Among the floating “marine debris” were not only wooden planks but also plastic. There were other things Yu Chi couldn’t make out clearly.
Once the large patch of marine debris drew near her raft, she immediately extended her fishing rod, managing to hook two wooden planks and pull them onto the raft.
—These planks had been floating on the water, yet they weren’t wet underneath when she brought them up.
Yu Chi used the All-Purpose Fishing Rod to hook two pieces of plastic as well.
The resources weren’t moving very fast, as if to deliberately give players enough time to collect them. Even so, at Yu Chi’s pace, she would probably have to watch most of the “debris” float away.
The efficiency was too low.
Yu Chi thought for a couple of seconds, then secured the hook of the fishing rod to the raft. She looped the line around it a few times and tugged hard to test its strength. The result was satisfactory.
After tying it securely, Yu Chi did a few simple stretches and, holding the other end of the rod, jumped into the water.
She didn’t know if the raft was bound to her. Given the speed of the current, it might just float away if not secured.
Using the raft as the center and the length of the rod and line as the radius, Yu Chi did her best to throw the surrounding debris onto the raft.
The area of marine debris was too large. After working for about an hour, a drenched Yu Chi finally returned to the raft.
She was a good swimmer, but swimming in the ocean was a completely different feeling from swimming in a river. This environment, with no support and water on all sides, had filled her with fear almost the instant she went in.
After confirming she couldn’t reach any more debris, Yu Chi scrambled back onto the raft almost desperately.
Although the raft couldn’t shelter her from the wind and rain, on this boundless sea, it was the only place she could call “home.”
With the scorching sun hanging overhead, Yu Chi took off her soaked clothes and laid them on the raft to dry. Continuing to wear them could lead to a cold, a risk she couldn’t afford to take.
Before she was transported here, she had been playing games at her computer, dressed in loungewear. Fortunately, the temperature difference between day and night at sea wasn’t as significant as on land. It was about 30°C now and would probably drop to 25°C at night, giving them a decent chance of survival.
The temperature was gradually rising. About three hours had passed since Yu Chi had suddenly appeared on this raft.
She sat on the raft to rest for a while, then began to sort through the resources. Besides the materials she had gotten from the resource chest earlier, she had just managed to salvage [Wood Plank x23, Plastic x15, Palm Leaf x20, Metal Scrap x3].
Yu Chi blinked and opened the [Craft] interface.
From this interface, she could see the conversion ratios for various materials—10 wood planks combined into 1 unit of wood, 10 palm leaves into 1 rope, and 2 metal scraps into 1 nail.
To save space, Yu Chi converted her materials into 2 units of wood, 2 ropes, and 4 nails. With the remaining 3 wood planks, 15 pieces of plastic, 7 stones, and 2 iron ores, the raft instantly felt much more spacious.
After organizing everything, Yu Chi cast the hook into the water and took out a loaf of bread from her backpack. She had just finished breakfast before being transported here, but the recent dip in the sea had drastically depleted her stamina, and her stomach was already starting to feel hungry.
If the time was consistent, it should be around 12 PM, right at lunchtime for humans.
After finishing one loaf of bread and consuming a third of a bottle of water, Yu Chi pursed her lips. She was the type to eat small, frequent meals—she got full easily but also got hungry quickly. In the past, she had to eat a late-night snack almost every evening.
Relying solely on food from resource chests didn’t give her peace of mind. If possible, she needed to find other sources of food.
Then there was drinking water. She had 4 bottles of water and had to drink them sparingly. As for the cola, she could post it on the trade market. She couldn’t be the only lucky one; she believed someone would be willing to trade for it.
The temperature at sea was too high. In just this short while, Yu Chi’s hair was already half-dry. The clothes laid out to dry were also nearly done.
The brilliant sun hung overhead, and the fishing hook showed no signs of movement for the time being.
Yu Chi put her clothes back on and opened the chat interface.
The message refresh rate was already much slower than in the morning. Messages about searching for relatives and cries of despair had mostly disappeared. Most people were discussing resources and survival techniques, with many trade messages mixed in.
【SurfingTheSea】: It’s over, it’s over, family. I opened three resource chests and didn’t get a single grain of rice.
【CapitalCrime】: How dare you, person above! How noble a food is rice?!
【ILoveBlueSkies】: Where are these resource chests coming from? Why is everyone talking about them? How come I haven’t seen any?
【ColaFromAllDirections】: Weren’t there resource chests in the debris tide just now?
【ILoveBlueSkies】: …Bullshit. All I got were some wood planks and plastic. Didn’t even see the shadow of a resource chest.
【FruitSis】: The gap between the world of the lucky and that of ordinary people.
【Sleeping】: What debris tide?
【LittleTexas】: ? We have a master here.
【Sleeping】: …I just woke up. What happened?
【GrumpyBro】: Listen, let’s just not live.
【MostBrutalBrain】: It seems throwing trash into the sea was useful after all. This is our lifeline!
【ZhangSanAskedMeOut】: Heh, I think it’s because we threw too much trash that we were thrown here.
【EinsteinsBlanket】: Buying, one block of wood for one loaf of bread.
【FiveStarSurvivor】: Get the guy above out of here. I’ll trade five blocks of wood for one loaf of bread.
【LovesToEatCockroaches】: Anyone have water? Can someone give me a bottle of water? I’m about to die of thirst.
【GrumpyBro】: Give you my ass. Just go eat your cockroaches.
Yu Chi scrolled through the chat page for a while, then clicked on the trade section. It seemed everyone had a good haul from the recent debris tide, as quite a few people were already trading.

Sailing Log 2:
To be honest, sitting naked on the raft was a bit awkward for a fish… but it’s okay! Cultivation demands it. This fish will definitely reach the top!
