Chapter 35: I Want to Stab Her p1

Jiang Yi couldn’t figure out Zhou Wanfeng.

On the way home from evening self-study, Zhou Wanfeng had left him behind and ridden off quickly. He had thought she was angry, but the next day at school, during the break, she would come to him with math problems she couldn’t solve.

Their interactions were the same as usual, but the rhythm of their relationship had changed.

Zhou Wanfeng was very efficient. Whether it was going to the cafeteria for lunch or walking back, Jiang Yi couldn’t keep up with her speed. It was the same after evening self-study. He had packed his bag as quickly as possible to catch up with Zhou Wanfeng at the bike shed.

As he was pulling out his bike, Zhou Wanfeng turned her head and said, “I’m leaving first.” Her bike was imported and had manual gears. At first, Jiang Yi could keep up with his physical strength, but he would get tired later and could only watch Zhou Wanfeng ride off into the distance.

It hadn’t been like that before.

Jiang Yi was disappointed and frustrated, but he didn’t know how to say it. The next day, Zhou Wanfeng still came to him to ask questions and discuss things as usual.

After the monthly exam, Zhou Wanfeng buried herself in her studies again. Occasionally, some of the class’s miscellaneous affairs would affect her.

The homeroom teachers of the other first-grade classes all knew that for matters concerning First Grade, Class Nine, it was more effective to talk to Zhou Wanfeng directly than to talk to the homeroom teacher, Sun Mulan.

And so, Huang Hongwei, the homeroom teacher of Class Six, saw Zhou Wanfeng just as she was coming out of the office and quickly walked over to stop her. “Zhou Wanfeng, wait a minute.”

Zhou Wanfeng stopped, holding a small stack of graded homework books in her hands. The homework books for Class Nine were never all collected. Some people didn’t do them at all.

“Zhou Wanfeng, a girl in my class has reported that two boys from your class are always sitting in the Class Six classroom during the break and lunch break. The girl has reported it to me several times. She said that she can’t get them to leave. Can you or your homeroom teacher talk to them? They shouldn’t be sitting in other people’s classrooms for no reason. The female students are clearly annoyed.”

The homeroom teacher of Class Six was being rather tactful. After all, the school rules were announced at the morning assembly every day, and one of them was to prohibit puppy love.

Zhou Wanfeng frowned. “Teacher, although I’m the class president of Class Nine, I can’t restrict people’s movements during the break. I’ll mention this to the homeroom teacher. And also, tell the girl in your class that the next time they go over and won’t leave, have your class president get a bucket of water and just splash them.”

“Splash them with a bucket of water?” Huang Hongwei thought he had misheard, but Zhou Wanfeng’s expression was not joking.

Zhou Wanfeng nodded. “If that doesn’t work, then use a broom to chase them away. There’s a saying in my hometown: if you want a pig to climb a tree, you have to hit it with a stone,” she said, and then walked away with the homework books.

Huang Hongwei watched Zhou Wanfeng’s retreating back and couldn’t help but laugh. On second thought, who was to say that wasn’t a good method? But the key was that other students wouldn’t be able to do such a thing.

Zhou Wanfeng went to the classroom to hand out the homework books. She slammed them on the podium twice, and all the students’ eyes focused on her.

Usually, as long as Zhou Wanfeng stood on the podium, the students in the class would be very self-aware and know that the class president had something to say. And the class president was always brief and to the point.

“I ran into the homeroom teacher of Class Six on the way just now. He said that some boys from Class Nine are often sitting in his class. He didn’t say any names, so I don’t know who. No one is a fool. Can’t you sit in your own class? Is it because you like a girl in their class? They say that the love of adolescence is the most sincere and pure, so let them go. Don’t ruin their future and delay their studies for high school. And their homeroom teacher is watching you. If you’re smart, don’t go over there for the next two days.”

With that, Zhou Wanfeng returned to her seat.

Some people in the class knew the inside story. It was impossible not to know if you ran out as soon as class was over.

During the evening self-study, Sun Mulan gave a long lecture on puppy love. It was obvious that the homeroom teacher of Class Six had talked to her about it.

But the class was laughing and joking, clearly not taking it seriously.

After evening self-study, the moment Jiang Yi saw Zhou Wanfeng raise her arm, he immediately slung his backpack over his shoulder. He had prepared in advance. When Zhou Wanfeng stood up, he immediately followed.

“Zhou Wanfeng, I’ve been thinking, and I still don’t understand. Weren’t we fine before? It was so nice going to and from school together. Why is it like this now?” Jiang Yi couldn’t understand, and the more he couldn’t understand, the more upset he felt.

Zhou Wanfeng turned to look at him, her eyes cold. “I thought you were different from the others in Class Nine. You don’t cause trouble, you don’t make a fuss, you just quietly do your own problems. I suddenly thought of the situation in three years, six years, ten years, and I felt sorry for you. Instead of wondering then why I didn’t urge you on, it’s better to just cut ties now. In ten years, what happens to you will have nothing to do with me. That’s what I think.”

Zhou Wanfeng was very direct, so direct that Jiang Yi couldn’t accept it for a moment.

“I… I…”

“I haven’t met your brother, Jiang Chen, many times, but his eyes are confident and clear. He’s a person who has a lot of ideas about his future. If you’re confused and unsure, you should go and talk to him,” Zhou Wanfeng said, then turned and pushed her bike away first.

At ten-thirty at night, Jiang Yi was tossing and turning in his bedroom, unable to sleep. Thinking of Zhou Wanfeng’s words, he got up, not even putting on his slippers.

The light in Jiang Chen’s bedroom was still on at ten-thirty. He was in his pajamas, doing his homework.

Jiang Yi knocked on the door and went in. He moved a chair and sat next to Jiang Chen, watching him do his problems and write his homework. When he saw him make a mistake, he even pointed it out. “The formula here is wrong.”

Jiang Chen looked at it again. It was indeed wrong. After finishing this problem, he didn’t continue. He turned to look at Jiang Yi.

“What’s wrong with you?”

Jiang Yi frowned, looking at the various reference books for each subject on Jiang Chen’s desk. He asked, “Bro, what do you want to do in the future?”

“A doctor. I want to be a surgeon. I think that by using a scalpel to remove a patient’s lesion, you can take away their pain. I think that’s very amazing,” Jiang Chen said, looking at Jiang Yi with curiosity. “Why are you suddenly asking this?”

Jiang Yi then told him about his recent conversation with Zhou Wanfeng.

“I think she’s only saying these things to you because she considers you a friend. As you said, there are so many students in your class who don’t study, and she doesn’t care about them at all. And I also think that what she’s doing now is right. People make different choices, and they slowly become strangers,” he said in a serious tone, then his eyes suddenly lit up with excitement. “She’s your junior high school classmate. Maybe she and I will be high school classmates in the future. Didn’t you say she wants to get into No. 1 High School? Damn, if I, Lu dog, and Zhou Wanfeng are in the same class in the future, wow… with her as the class president, will the people in the class be very well-behaved?”

Jiang Chen inexplicably thought of Lu Qing’s foul mouth, and how it would be suppressed by Zhou Wanfeng’s force before he could even open it. Damn, just thinking about it was exciting.

Jiang Yi’s mouth was agape, completely stunned.

His brother hadn’t included him just now. It was as if she were his friend, but he had been left behind, and the three of them were playing together. It was too much.

Jiang Yi was so panicked that he instantly felt that he had been left behind.

Jiang Chen was still going on about being in the same high school, and even the same class in the future. As he spoke, he glanced at Jiang Yi’s expression. Seeing his on-the-verge-of-tears look, he added, “Anyway, we’ll all be in the same high school in the future, so let’s get to know each other now. It just so happens that our classmate, Yun Jingya, is her sister. Let’s all go to the Xinhua Bookstore to buy books on Saturday.”

Buy books? Jiang Yi suddenly stood up. “I’m going to the Xinhua Bookstore to buy books on Saturday too.”

It was an extremely unnatural chance encounter. A group of them ran into each other at the entrance of the Xinhua Bookstore. To be precise, they had gathered there.
