Chapter 41: The Little Brats Just Need a Free Nanny
This was a very serious matter. Someone had discovered the existence of both children at the same time and could easily enter Zhou Siyan’s and Feng Qizhou’s offices.
Zhou Siyan was the Director of the Security Division, and Feng Qizhou was the Deputy Director of the White Tower Central Hospital.
Both of them were leaders in the upper class, with high status. The security and confidentiality of their offices were also very good.
Moreover, after having the children, Zhou Siyan had set the door lock permissions to the highest level, requiring fingerprint and iris dual recognition, plus a password to open the door.
Besides Zhou Siyan himself, no one had the authority to open the door to the Director of the Security Division’s office.
No, there was one person who had the authority to open all the access controls in the White Tower, the highest ruler of the White Tower—Ms. Bai Long.
But Ms. Bai Long had never interfered in matters, saying that she was in poor health and had not shown her face for several years.
She didn’t even bother to intervene in matters such as drug abuse and gang fights in the White Tower. How could she secretly sneak into the Director of the Security Division’s office for two small children?
“Isn’t there surveillance? Let’s check the surveillance first,” Xue Yu reminded him.
Zhou Siyan came back to his senses and quickly pulled up the surveillance footage of the corridor outside the office, the office itself, and the lounge.
That person was not so powerful as to be able to avoid the surveillance.
He was wearing a camouflage suit made of black nano-wave-absorbing material.
The light of this camouflage suit’s coating was easily absorbed by the metallic luster, and all the building materials in the White Tower were metal.
When that person came in wearing the camouflage suit, the surveillance could only see a rough human-shaped black silhouette, unable to see his specific walking posture, making it even more difficult to identify who he was.
He did not pry the door open or use external force to break it. Instead, he used a card to swipe the door open.
It was clear that he had obtained the permission to open the door to be able to enter so smoothly.
What worried Zhou Siyan even more was that when that person opened the door and entered the room, the door lock system did not even remind him, the owner. After the door was opened, no data record of the door opening was left.
Xue Yu held Xue Xiaohai and continued to watch the surveillance with Zhou Siyan without blinking.
After that person entered the office, he looked around, and then, with some unknown tool, he opened the lounge connected to the office.
The surveillance footage moved to the lounge. Xue Xiaohai and her little seahorse were playing with a rubber ball in the playpen. When she saw the person in black come in, she called out.
Then the person in black entered the playpen.
He did not harm the child, but just sat in the playpen and played with the child.
During this time, he even went to open the cabinet in the corner, took out the formula can, stared at the instructions for a long time, mixed a bottle of formula, and held Xue Xiaohai in his arms to feed her.
Xue Xiaohai was a gluttonous baby who would do anything for milk. With milk to drink, she didn’t cry or make a fuss and happily played with the person in black.
After playing with the child for forty minutes, the person in black put the bottle and formula back in their original places, touched the child’s face, and left the lounge.
After watching the surveillance, Xue Yu made a guess, “Could it be Youke’en? He’s been much more normal these past few days. It’s possible he came here to play with Xue Xiaohai to satisfy his desire to be a father, which is why he hasn‘s not pestering me to be his daughter anymore.”
Zhou Siyan had the same suspicion.
He patted Xue Yu’s shoulder. “Don’t worry too much. I’m here.”
He contacted Feng Qizhou again and asked him to come over for a discussion.
Xue Yu pinched Xue Xiaohai’s face. “Why are you playing with a strange uncle? Mommy’s telling you a rule: don’t eat things given by strangers, and you can’t drink milk fed by strangers either. Remember that!”
“Mommy, Mommy,” Xue Xiaohai thought her mother was playing with her and also went to pinch Xue Yu’s face.
“Little dummy.”
***
Feng Qizhou put Xue Xiaobei in the temperature-controlled box and brought her over.
Entering the office, he saw Xue Yu teasing the child with an airplane model. Zhou Siyan squeezed some baby lotion into his palm, first rubbing it on the child’s face. Finding that he had squeezed too much, he then rubbed it on Xue Yu’s arm.
The scene of domestic bliss made Feng Qizhou want to get angry for no reason. Unable to find a reason, he could only say, “Don’t adults use the child’s things.”
“It’s very useful,” Xue Yu said with a chuckle.
Feng Qizhou put down the temperature-controlled box, took out Xue Xiaobei, and placed her in Xue Yu’s arms. “This is your seed too. Don’t be so biased all the time. Xiaobei is very pitiful.”
Xue Yu held Xue Xiaobei. The child had grown rapidly these past few days, gaining a lot of weight. Her little arms and legs were also strong, and she could crawl on her own, no longer just lying in the temperature-controlled box in a daze.
“Xiaobei, Mommy’s good baby,” Xue Yu held Xue Xiaobei with one hand and also hugged Xue Xiaohai with the other. “The two sisters are so cute. They are both Mommy’s good babies.”
Feng Qizhou squatted in front of Xue Yu and wiped Xue Xiaobei’s drool with a wet wipe.
“Xiaobei needs to grow up quickly and be more active when drinking milk. You are the eldest daughter of our old Xue family. You can’t be so weak. Learn from your mother, that glutton, number one in eating and sleeping.”
“Hey, I’m not a glutton,” Xue Yu wanted to hit him, but she was holding a baby in each hand and couldn’t free her hands.
Feng Qizhou’s smile became even more wicked. “The number one glutton in the White Tower.”
Zhou Siyan suddenly said from the side, “Xiaohai is the older sister.”
“Xiaobei is. She was born first. I delivered Xiaobei before you guys even went to the South Continent,” Feng Qizhou retorted.
Zhou Siyan was calm. “I was pregnant before Xue Yu even slept with you.”
Feng Qizhou was very dissatisfied with this statement and argued reasonably, “Is that how seniority is calculated? Xiaobei was born first. She is definitely the older sister.”
Zhou Siyan: “Look at their sizes yourself. Who is the older sister, and who is the younger sister?”
Comparing the two babies, Xue Xiaohai was indeed much stronger.
Feng Qizhou then turned to Xue Yu for a decision, patting her on the calf. “Baby’s mom, you say who is the older sister and who is the younger sister.”
Xue Yu looked at Xue Xiaohai, then at Xue Xiaobei. “I think Zhou Siyan is right. Xiaohai was indeed in the womb for a longer time and is also stronger. It’s more appropriate for her to be the older sister.”
Zhou Siyan scooped up the little seahorse that was flying around and placed it in Xue Xiaohai’s arms. “And my daughter had a spirit body before she was even born. Xiaobei has been born for so long, but that fox of yours still hasn’t given birth to a spirit body for the child.”
Feng Qizhou was completely at a loss. “I can’t argue with you. You can decide however you want. Anyway, I have two children. When the younger sister in my belly is born, Xiaobei can still be the older sister.”
With a sullen face, he took out two milk cakes wrapped in plastic wrap from the temperature-controlled box.
He gave one to Xue Xiaobei and stuffed the other into Xue Xiaohai’s hand. “Here, big fatty, eat.”
“What’s this?” Xue Yu leaned over to look.
“Milk cake. I made it myself. The ingredients are the formula the children usually drink,” Feng Qizhou took out another piece and stuffed it directly into Xue Yu’s mouth. “Glutton, this is yours.”
Xue Yu’s mouth was full. It was soft, glutinous, sweet, with a milky fragrance, and it melted in her mouth. “It’s delicious. How did you know how to make this?”
“I learned it from parenting materials.”
Xue Xiaohai ate very quickly, finishing a piece of milk cake in a few bites. In contrast, Xue Xiaobei only nibbled at a small corner.
Xue Xiaohai crawled into Feng Qizhou’s arms, pulled at his hand, and looked left and right, still wanting to forage for food.
“There’s no more. Only three pieces. One for each of you sisters, and one for your mom. There’s no more.”
Feng Qizhou finally smiled and scraped the baby’s chubby face with his finger. “Your mom is a big glutton, and you’re a little glutton. So cute.”
Xue Xiaohai searched all over Feng Qizhou’s body and smelled a new milky scent. Her little head turned, and she suddenly nuzzled into Feng Qizhou’s chest, pulling hard at his white shirt.
“Hey, big fatty, what are you doing! This is not for you to eat!”
Feng Qizhou was horrified. He fumbled to grab the back of the baby’s collar and stuffed her back to Zhou Siyan.
He had given himself a lactation-inducing drug to play with Xue Yu, not to actually breastfeed a child. He couldn’t even accept feeding his own child, let alone someone else’s child burrowing into his arms.
Xue Yu was also embarrassed, her eyes darting around.
Zhou Siyan held Xue Xiaohai and got back to the point. “Alright, let’s talk business.”
Feng Qizhou said, “I’ve checked Xiaobei. She’s not injured. I also tested the leftover milk in the bottle. It wasn’t drugged.”
He also pulled up the surveillance footage of his own office and showed it to Xue Yu and Zhou Siyan.
From the timing, the person in black had taken advantage of the time when Feng Qizhou and Zhou Siyan were at the conservative meeting, first sneaking into Zhou Siyan’s office to feed Xue Xiaohai, and even playing with her for a while, before going to Feng Qizhou’s office to continue feeding Xue Xiaobei.
“Who do you think it is?” Feng Qizhou asked.
Xue Yu: “I guess it’s Youke’en. He’s been too strange.”
Feng Qizhou nodded and added, “There’s another person who is also very suspicious, the deputy director of the Security Division.”
He looked at Zhou Siyan. “The deputy director seems to have been eyeing your position all along, always staring at you, trying to find your weakness.”
Zhou Siyan said, “It’s not him. I’ve noticed that the deputy director was in the church the whole time during the meeting. The person who came to feed the children should be from the open-minded faction. I think it’s more likely to be Youke’en.”
“If it’s Youke’en, what are you going to do?” Xue Yu’s heart was in a turmoil.
“Kill,” Zhou Siyan and Feng Qizhou said in unison.
Zhou Siyan said, “One more person who knows about the children’s existence is one more danger. No matter what Youke’en’s original intention was in feeding the children, he must be dealt with.”
Xue Xiaohai struggled out of her father’s arms and crawled onto Feng Qizhou again, sniffing and burrowing into his arms, wanting to drink milk.
Xue Yu scooped up the child and covered her mouth. “Xiaohai, you can’t be so greedy!”
Feng Qizhou smiled, gathered his clothes, and stood up, crossing his arms to cover his chest. “Little glutton, this is for your mother to eat. You can’t eat it.”
He thought for a moment and continued, “It’s a bit difficult to kill Youke’en.”
The White Tower was a place where the strong preyed on the weak, but it also had its own legal system.
It was acceptable to kill a superior to seize their position, as long as you could quickly take over the superior’s work after killing them, you would not face serious charges.
But if you killed someone casually and could not replace their position, causing a vacancy in the victim’s original position, the murderer would face legal judgment.
Youke’en was just a team leader in the naval combat team. To kill him without taking responsibility, you could only rely on the members of the naval combat team. After a team member killed him, they would have to quickly take his place as team leader.
And they would have to seamlessly take over his work. If they couldn’t take on Youke’en’s original work responsibilities within half a month, the murderer would be prosecuted by the court for intentional homicide.
Feng Qizhou’s gaze shifted to Xue Yu. “You should do it. You’re in the naval combat team. You kill Youke’en, then take his position as team leader. You’ll be a small leader in the future.”
“Do we really have to do this?” Xue Yu was very nervous.
Zhou Siyan: “It’s not appropriate. Youke’en’s parents are both high-ranking officials. We have to have a foolproof plan before we act.”
Family ties in the White Tower were weak, and most people didn’t know who their parents were.
Youke’en was one of the few who still had contact with his parents.
His mother was the chairman of a pharmaceutical company, and his father was a high-ranking leader in a central agency.
His parents were regular conservatives and maintained a one-on-one relationship. Although the couple was not very close to Youke’en, they still gave him a lot of money and resources.
It was just a pity that Youke’en was a water-type warrior, and the water-type forces were not valued by the White Tower. Even with high-ranking official parents, he had only managed to become a team leader in the naval combat team after so long.
For the next few days, the supervisors of the conservatives became even stricter.
Xue Yu had no more time to come to the Manster Building to see the children.
After the incident of the children being secretly fed, Zhou Siyan and Feng Qizhou, for safety’s sake, put the two children together and took turns taking care of them.
When Zhou Siyan had to go out, he would send Xue Xiaohai to Feng Qizhou’s office for him to look after. When Feng Qizhou had to perform surgery, he would send Xue Xiaobei to Zhou Siyan.
They tried their best not to leave the two children alone.
Xue Yu, under Meng Wu’s guidance, participated in a naval combat team simulation training.
Meng Wu always had an impatient look on his face. Xue Yu was terrified, thinking that she had performed too poorly in the training. She was also the only intern under Meng Wu and was prepared to be scolded.
Meng Wu’s face was indeed not good. He gave her a cold look, took her to the armory, and chose a new type of underwater submachine gun for himself.
His face was ashen, his eyes sharp. Xue Yu thought this man was going to shoot her.
Xue Yu’s heart pounded. She was subconsciously nervous, not afraid of being fired.
It was that Meng Wu had a coldness about him, like his Bingshan lizard, like a cold-blooded animal lurking in the dark, which made her shiver when she got close.
Especially when she was stared at by that lizard, her scalp would tingle. She really didn’t know how Blueberry could bring itself to kiss such a lizard. This big pervert really wasn’t picky!
Meng Wu stood with his back to her, setting up the program for the new gun. His voice was sinister. “Xue Yu, take a deep breath.”
Xue Yu, as if she had received some kind of command, took a deep breath as he ordered.
Meng Wu still had his back to her. “Continue.”
Xue Yu continued to take deep breaths. After repeating it two or three times, her nerves finally relaxed a little.
Meng Wu said, “Go out. Wait for me outside.”
“Yes, sir!”
Xue Yu ran out of the closed and oppressive armory. When she got outside, she finally felt a sense of relief. Without the fear of being watched by a reptile, she felt light all over.
She was afraid of reptiles. It was in her bones.
When she had accompanied Zhou Siyan into the delivery room before, Dr. Lin’s cobra spirit body had literally scared her into fainting.
Meng Wu assembled the new type of underwater submachine gun in the armory by himself, then brought it out and gave it to Xue Yu. “This is your reward for this simulated battle.”
“For me?”
“Yes. I am your mentor. It is my duty to reward you.”
“Thank you, sir!”
The two of them returned to the naval combat team’s combat center.
In the elevator, Xue Yu secretly glanced at Meng Wu, her gaze once again meeting the lizard perched on his shoulder.
That lizard had probably been affected by a contamination factor. Its body had mutated, evolving towards that of a snake, making it even more terrifying and creepy.
Meng Wu looked down at the screen of his Cloud Sound Box. His fingers were long and slender, with distinct knuckles. The veins on the back of his hand were prominent, and he wore a water-type submarine combat watch on his wrist. The light from the Cloud Sound Box screen reflected on his superior features, and you could see the small scales growing on his neck.
Her heartbeat became chaotic. Xue Yu clenched her fists. The quiet elevator seemed to only have her heart beating like a drum.
“Xue Yu, take a deep breath.”
The elevator was oppressively quiet. The man’s voice sounded abrupt, with an unquestionable authority in his words.
Xue Yu unconsciously followed his command, took a deep breath, and her abdomen tightened.
“Are you afraid of me?” Meng Wu’s gaze shifted from the screen to her. He frowned slightly, as if he were wondering about the source of her fear.
“No, no,” Xue Yu hurriedly shook her head in denial, still having trouble breathing.
Meng Wu turned his shoe and moved to the side, putting as much distance between them as possible. He raised his hand and pressed the open door button. After the elevator doors opened on the next floor, he said softly, “Sorry for putting pressure on you.”
With that, he strode out.
The elevator doors were slowly closing. Only Xue Yu was left in the elevator. She was so afraid of Meng Wu’s mutated lizard.
For the next period of time, Xue Yu found that Meng Wu was consciously avoiding being alone with her. He no longer asked her to come to his office to talk about things but would go to the training grounds to talk.
Gradually, even the time for face-to-face conversations decreased, and they basically switched to online communication.
Finally, Xue Yu couldn’t help but ask, “Sir, do you have a problem with me?”
Meng Wu: “No.”
Xue Yu: “I’ve noticed that you seem to be avoiding me.”
Meng Wu: “Because I’ve noticed that you’re very afraid of me. You’re always very nervous when you’re near me.”
Xue Yu took a deep breath. “A little, but I promise that this little problem of mine will absolutely not affect my work! I’m very sorry, sir!”
Please don’t dock my pay.
Meng Wu said very calmly, “Xue Yu, you don’t need to apologize to me. If my presence makes you feel afraid, that’s my problem, not yours.”
He looked at her and asked again, “Can you tell me why you’re afraid of me?”
Xue Yu opened her heart. “It’s not that I’m afraid of you. It’s that I’m afraid of your spirit body. I have a natural fear of reptiles. Recently, your Bingshan has been mutating towards that of a snake, which makes me very scared.”
“I’m very sorry,” Meng Wu touched the electric shock collar hidden in his collar. “I thought it was my bad temper that scared you.”
He took two steps to the side, putting some distance between them. “Anyway, thank you for your honesty.”
Xue Yu stood up straight in a standard military posture. “Sir, I will work hard to overcome this fear.”
Meng Wu pursed his lips, his eyes dark. “Xue Yu, you don’t need to change. As I said before, if my presence makes you feel afraid, that’s my problem, not yours. It is I who should change, not you.”
“Okay, thank you for your understanding, sir!”
Xue Yu felt that Meng Wu was not as difficult to get along with as the rumors said.
Today, she finally had a chance to go back to Zhou Siyan’s apartment.
Feng Qizhou was in surgery, and both children were at Zhou Siyan’s place.
Zhou Siyan held Xue Xiaobei and said, “I just went out for a while, and Youke’en came in again. Not only did he feed the two children, but he also washed their clothes and shoes.”
The more Xue Yu thought about it, the more worried she became. “What on earth is wrong with this person?”
Zhou Siyan: “We have to deal with this.”
“How?”
“Lure him out for a talk.”
Zhou Siyan and Xue Yu went out again, leaving the two children at home by themselves.
Youke’en’s addiction to taking care of children was getting bigger and bigger. He no longer even bothered to hide his tracks. Seeing that Zhou Siyan had left, he used the access card he had gotten to open the door to Zhou Siyan’s apartment.
He familiarly entered the bedroom and hugged Xue Xiaohai, frantically sniffing the baby. “What a good baby. When can I have such a good baby?”
He couldn’t put her down. After hugging Xue Xiaohai, he went to hug Xue Xiaobei, holding the two children in turn.
Xue Yu and Zhou Siyan burst in.
Zhou Siyan’s spiritual power was much stronger than Youke’en’s. He grabbed his throat and pinned him to the ground.
Youke’en’s eyes were bloodshot from being choked. Physiological tears kept flowing out. He looked at Xue Yu. “I just like children. Is that wrong?”
His voice was hoarse from being choked by Zhou Siyan. “Just kill me. I’m a madman.”
Feng Qizhou rushed over, tilted his head to examine the scene, and reached out to stop Zhou Siyan, a meaningful smile on his face. “It’s a pity to kill him. Don’t you think our little brats need a nanny?”
“Huh?” Xue Yu was stunned, her mouth wide open.
Feng Qizhou reached out and lifted her chin, closing her mouth. “A free nanny, isn’t that great?”
