Chapter 38
Being summoned by Roa wasn’t a problem.
I had nothing better to do during break anyway.
But why am I being dragged to the student council room, force-fed sweets, and pressured to join the student council?
“If Master approves, I’m all for it. There’s no need to ask the other council members.”
Don’t they need to consider the other council members’ opinions?
“While Miss Aroa seems eager to change the school rules, I believe it would be more appropriate to make Master a special case. It would be difficult to change the rules anyway.”
He’s right.
It’s definitely easier to make an exception for one student than to change the entire school system.
“That’s how Miss Aroa joined the council.”
Huh? There’s a precedent?
I thought the student council was a group of highly capable individuals who lead the student body.
Does that mean Roa isn’t particularly skilled?
“Well, her background is a skill in its own right.”
Wow!
That’s cold, Dustin.
She was head over heels for you not too long ago.
Well, Roa does have a powerful background.
But I don’t.
Is my family influential? Not as much as Roa’s.
And I don’t even have a status window.
So I have neither skills nor background…
If a nobody like me suddenly joins the student council…
“Wouldn’t the other students object?”
“Who… are you talking about? Who would dare object to Master’s actions?!”
Dustin jumps to his feet, his eyes flashing, and draws his sword.
“I’ll… I’ll eliminate them all!”
“No, no, hey, calm down.”
Ugh, this guy…
One wrong move, and there will be a bloodbath.
“Master.”
He sheathes his sword and then addresses me in a serious tone.
“What?”
“If there’s anything troubling you, please tell me. You’re not alone. You have Miss Basilia, Miss Aroa, Miss Celia, and me.”
Hmm? What’s this all of a sudden?
“Well, as for troubles… I don’t really have any.”
The kids in my class are kind of ostracizing me, but…
It’s not like they’re actively bullying me.
It’s just a bit awkward because it feels like I’m the bully now…
But that should resolve itself once the practical classes start.
It’s all because they mistakenly believe I’m strong.
Wait, no…
What if they decide to bully me for real, thinking, “This guy! He was pretending to be strong?!”
Oh… maybe joining the student council would be beneficial after all!
“Is that so? Then I’ll believe that, Master.”
This guy has grown up so much.
He used to hide behind his father and couldn’t even greet me properly. Now he’s tall, mature-looking, the Student Council President, and an Imperial Knight Commander.
The status window is truly a blessing.
Sigh, I wish I had one.
“Anyway, I’ll handle everything. All you have to do is tell me when you’re ready to join the student council.”
Well, it’s not a bad offer.
It would be good to have some backup, just in case.
And I’ll get to see Roa every day.
Celia will probably object, complaining that I won’t have time for her, but…
What about Lia?
Would she want to join the student council too?
She likes Dustin, and we get along well.
“Hmm, I think I’ll join.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Who knows?
Maybe joining the student council will help me discover my talent and awaken my status window!
“I’ll go get Roa. She’s probably throwing a tantrum at her father right now.”
“Okay, thanks for your hard work.”
“Yeah.”
Since phones don’t exist in this world, I have to go to the faculty office to use the landline.
Roa is probably in there, pestering the teachers.
“Excuse me.”
“Oh my, Yuri. What brings you here?”
The academy’s faculty office is quite different from the schools in my previous life.
Instead of teachers being isolated in their own cubicles, grading papers, they’re all gathered together.
Wouldn’t this make cheating incredibly easy?!
Is this the breeding ground for corruption?!
“Ah, is Roa… I mean, Senior Aroa here?”
“If you’re looking for Aroa… she’s using the phone in the back.”
“Ah, okay. Thank you.”
There’s no way.
I follow the kind teacher’s directions and open the door, only to find…
“I hate you, Daddy!”
Roa slams the phone down.
“Oh my…”
“Ah, um! I’ll handle this, Teacher, haha!”
“Alright, I’ll be over there. Call me if you need anything.”
The teacher whispers and returns to his desk. I smile at him and close the door.
“Roa.”
“Ah, Y-Yuri! What brings you here…!”
She’s clearly flustered.
She’s waving her arms and legs frantically, as if trying to convince me she didn’t do anything wrong.
“Call your father back and apologize.”
“Father…?”
Ah, right.
I’m so used to Roa’s casualness that I forgot she’s a Duke’s daughter.
“Ahem! The Duke must be very upset.”
“…You can call him Father too.”
“Huh?”
“Ah, n-never mind. It’s nothing. I just wanted to be on the student council with you. It’s Daddy’s fault!”
She’s so bold.
“What if the Duke hates me and starts a war?”
Well, that’s not going to happen.
“I-I’ll stop him…!”
“If he is so angry he can’t even hear you?”
But it’s perfect for intimidating her.
“But…!”
“Just apologize. Dustin said he’ll handle the student council stuff.”
“Ugh! That bastard…! He’s trying to steal you away while I’m gone…!”
I don’t even know where to begin.
Dustin and I are not a thing.
I have no intention of getting involved with a guy!
“Anyway, I understand. I’ll apologize to Father. But… could you… leave first…?”
She could just apologize briefly and then we could leave together, but…
“I’m… embarrassed…”
“Ah, hmm, okay. I’ll go ahead.”
I guess apologizing in front of someone else could be embarrassing for her.
Even if it’s her own father.
“Then I’ll see you at the student council room later.”
“Actually, I’m heading back to the dormitory. Let’s meet during dinner.”
“Eh?!”
“See you later~”
I don’t plan to stay at the student council room forever.
It’s time to go back to the dormitory.
I need to explain the situation to Celia and Lia.
“Teacher, everything’s settled inside, so don’t worry about it.”
“Alright, good work. Go ahead.”
“Yes~ Goodbye~”
I bid farewell to the teachers and head towards the dormitory.
Hmm, did I make a hasty decision?
Everyone seems to think I’m strong…
What if they think, “Wow, she’s even stronger than we thought!” when I join the student council?
“Oh, Celia! Lia! What are you two doing here?”
I return to the dormitory and find two familiar faces.
I’ve never seen these two together before. What an unusual combination.
“Oh! Master Yuri! You’re back! We were waiting for you!”
“Well, I wasn’t exactly waiting.”
This cute little thing always makes up the strangest excuses.
I pinch Celia’s cheeks and greet Lia.
“Is something going on?”
“Ow, ow, ow!”
Lia chuckles as Celia struggles beside me.
“Wahaha! You’re even cuter now, Celia!”
“Oww!”
I let go of her cheeks.
“Even if you’re my master, I won’t tolerate cheek pinching!”
“Come on, what’s the big deal?”
She could have just pushed me away.
She’s just being dramatic.
“You’re just strong and stupid!”
“I’m not strong.”
That’s something only people with status windows can say.
It doesn’t apply to a nobody like me.
“Wait, did you just call me stupid?”
That’s a bit harsh…?!
“Wahaha! Stop fighting and get along!”
Lia throws her arms around Celia and me, effectively ending the argument.
Ugh, I’m not stupid.
But more importantly, this feeling against my arm…
Hmm… Lia is beautiful, and she has a great body too?!
“So why are you two here?”
I calm myself down, release Lia’s arm, and ask calmly.
I want to change clothes and shower, but that’s impossible with them here.
Even if we’re close…
I’m a guy!
I can’t do anything indecent in a room full of girls!
Well, not that I don’t want to… No, I’m sorry.
“Nothing in particular. We just haven’t seen you in a while!”
Oh, how bold.
“I was just passing by, and this girl dragged me here.”
That makes sense.
“Oh, by the way, I decided to join the student council.”
“What?”
“Ooh?”
I was planning to tell them anyway, so this is convenient.
“Why would you join that place? I don’t understand. I can give you a spot in my laboratory if you need one.”
That sounds like…
A professor recruiting a graduate student…
“Ah, no… I’m not really good with academics…”
I’m not stupid, but I’m not exactly pursuing an academic career.
“Can first-years join? Then I want to join with Master Yuri!”
Lia, always predictable.
“Well, I’ll ask about Lia. I’m sure they’ll welcome the next Saint with open arms.”
Unlike a mediocre person like me, everyone would be thrilled to have the next Saint on the student council.
“Hey, what are you talking about?! You’re the talented one, Master Yuri! Wait, am I wrong?”
Guys, just accept that I’m a nobody.
“Master is already perfect. Any further growth would make her a monster. The word ‘talented’ doesn’t apply to someone like her.”
Celia chimes in, prompting a sigh from me.
How am I perfect?!
I’m just a nobody!
This is so unfair!
“Wahaha! That’s what I was going to say!”
Ugh, this is so frustrating!
It’s infuriating to see talented people act like this in front of a talentless person like me!
“Get out, all of you.”
“Why?”
“I want to spend more time with Master Yuri!”
“Damn it, get out!”
I snap at them, and they finally get the hint, shuffling out of the room.
“I don’t understand why you’re so angry, Master Yuri. Are you on your period?”
“Get out!”
I slam the door shut.
Ugh, finally, some peace and quiet.
I’m feeling sticky and uncomfortable because I haven’t had a chance to change or shower, and they were just spouting nonsense.
I’m too nice.
Thank for the chapter
