Chapter 52: Xue Yu’s First Mercenary Mission, the Ant-Man Nest p2
Xue Yu walked into the clinic. When Feng Qizhou saw that it was her, he didn’t say anything.
Xue Yu locked the door herself, sat down in the consultation seat in front of the desk, and held out her hand. “Dr. Feng, I haven’t been feeling well lately. Can you take a look at me?”
Feng Qizhou raised an eyebrow at her and gave her a wary look, signaling that there was surveillance.
Xue Yu wanted to get up. “I seem to be feeling much better now. Then I’ll be going.”
Feng Qizhou held her hand down. “Xue Yu, you’re mentally retarded, right? Let me check you.”
“How do you check?”
Feng Qizhou had a stethoscope around his neck. He stood up and walked to the examination table on the side, spreading a new sterile medical cloth pad on it. His face was straight, his expression serious, as if he were seriously treating a patient.
“Take off your jacket and lie down,” Feng Qizhou said coldly.
Xue Yu walked over, took off her jacket, and lay down on the examination table.
Feng Qizhou drew the curtain to block the surveillance, took the stethoscope, and pretended to place it on Xue Yu’s chest. “This patient, what’s the reason for your fast heartbeat?”
Xue Yu: “You’re the doctor. You’re asking me?”
Feng Qizhou put away the stethoscope and said, “Open your mouth.”
Xue Yu: “Why do I have to open my mouth?”
Feng Qizhou: “Mentally retarded people are prone to crooked eyes and mouths and drooling. I have to check if your mouth is straight enough and if you’re drooling.”
Xue Yu opened her mouth. Feng Qizhou pinched her chin. “Your mouth is very healthy, your teeth are very clean, no problem. Hmm, now stick out your tongue. I’ll check your tongue temperature.”
Xue Yu stuck out her tongue.
Feng Qizhou leaned down and touched her tongue with his lips. “The temperature is normal. No fever.”
His lips kept moving, coming to her earlobe. “The ear temperature is also normal.”
Then to her neck, chest, and further down…
Xue Yu bit her finger with difficulty. “Doctor, are you done yet? Is the temperature there normal?”
Feng Qizhou’s voice was muffled. “It’s a little hot, not quite normal. It’s like a fever. I’ll check again.”
Xue Yu held onto the corner of his white lab coat tightly. “Doctor, is your tongue a thermometer? How can it measure temperature?”
“Are you here to see a doctor or to chat? Shut up,” Feng Qizhou’s voice came from below.
Five minutes later, he straightened up, a bright, watery stain on his lips. He buttoned up Xue Yu’s waistband.
“Your symptom is getting more and more serious. The preliminary diagnosis is that it has changed from mild mental retardation to moderate mental retardation. This is not good. I have to prescribe you some medicine.”
Xue Yu also liked to act in this kind of cheesy little drama. She sat up and cooperated with him. “Ah, is it that serious? I feel like my mind is still very clear. How could I have become moderately mentally retarded? Doctor, did you make a mistake?”
Feng Qizhou continued to tidy her clothes and said seriously, “Are you sure your mind is clear?”
“Isn’t it?”
Feng Qizhou poked her on her smooth forehead. “You treat the clinic as a brothel and make the doctor your duck. You still dare to say you’re not mentally retarded?”
Xue Yu looked left and right. “Huh? Is this really not a brothel? I thought you were a duck in a uniform fetish. I’m sorry, doctor. Please save me.”
Feng Qizhou held her face and kissed her hard. “Alright, don’t delay other patients. It’s time to go.”
“Thank you, doctor.”
Xue Yu then quickly went to see the two children who had been locked in the compartment by Feng Qizhou. The children were all asleep. She kissed both of them and then left the clinic.
As soon as she reached the corridor, a supervisor from the conservatives came over to do a questionnaire with her. “How was Dr. Feng’s attitude?”
Xue Yu: “Very good.”
The supervisor: “Did he harass you?”
Xue Yu shook her head repeatedly. “No, he was very professional.”
The supervisor: “Do you think he’s charming, in terms of sexual charm?”
Xue Yu: “Why do you ask?”
The supervisor: “He’s an extreme sexual conservative. Our sect requires that its members do not display sexual charm.”
Xue Yu: “No, he has no attraction to me at all.”
The supervisor: “That’s good.”
Xue Yu felt that the conservatives were on the wrong path.
The clothes that the conservatives gave their members were all well-tailored black suits. They also required their members to pay attention to exercise, the idea being that a lot of exercise could release energy, so they wouldn’t have time to think about men and women.
This rule, on the contrary, gave the members a kind of ascetic beauty. The more restrained they were, the more charming they were.
If they wanted to get rid of sexual charm, they should have made them fat, wear flip-flops all day, and wear a sack. Over time, they would become the least sexually attractive, and that would be the real conservatives.
Her mind was in a jumble. Xue Yu went to the bathroom and specially checked her pants for any of Feng Qizhou’s saliva or other water stains.
After confirming that her pants were clean, she went to Zhou Siyan’s office.
Having many children was a pain. After running to one house, she had to run to the other. When Mo Li had his baby in the future and they formed a triumvirate, she would be exhausted.
Xue Yu sighed in her heart.
Zhou Siyan was not very busy today. He sat in his office leather chair and put Xue Xiaohai directly on the desk, giving the child an old corn cob.
Xue Xiaohai was busy breaking off the corn kernels, not crying or making a fuss.
When Xue Yu entered the office, she saw this scene. “My god, Zhou Siyan, you’re making the child work at such a young age. My heart aches for her.”
“I’m letting her play, to exercise her finger strength,” Zhou Siyan said.
When Xue Xiaohai saw Xue Yu, she handed her the corn cob. “Mommy, eat.”
“Mommy is not eating. Xiaohai, eat it yourself.”
Xue Xiaohai was very smart. She knew she couldn’t chew the corn cob, so she continued to break off the corn kernels.
Xue Yu leaned over the child and said worriedly, “If you do this, what if she accidentally eats it?”
Zhou Siyan: “I’m watching.”
Xue Yu told him about the mercenary mission she had accepted and asked him if there was anything to pay attention to when dealing with the ant-men.
Zhou Siyan looked at her mission information, his handsome brow slightly furrowed. “Are there ant-men in the White Tower?”
Xue Yu: “I don’t know. Shouldn’t you know more than me?”
Zhou Siyan looked back and forth at the picture of the ant-man in the information. “I haven’t heard of ant-men before. I’m not very clear. It might be a new type of Abomination. Are you sure you want to take this mission? Has Meng Wu approved it for you?”
Xue Yu: “He has. According to my current physical fitness and spiritual power, it’s no problem to deal with these ant-men.”
“That’s good,” Zhou Siyan felt that something was not right, but he couldn’t figure it out for the time being.
While waiting for her new teammate, Xue Yu had nothing to do and would often come to find Zhou Siyan.
Feng Qizhou was not very happy. He couldn’t understand what was so charming about the dull and rigid Zhou Siyan. He pulled Xue Yu and asked, “What are you doing with him all day? What fun can he give you? That kind of person is like a steel plate in bed.”
“Do you have such a deep misunderstanding of him?” Xue Yu asked, blinking.
Feng Qizhou sensed something. “Misunderstanding? Does he play even wilder than me in private?”
Xue Yu’s face turned red uncontrollably. “No, that person is not interesting at all. He’s too conservative. Don’t overthink it. I’m just going to see Xue Xiaohai. I’m not doing anything with him.”
“Even if you are, what can I say?” Feng Qizhou licked his cheek impatiently. “I just don’t understand what’s so attractive about him.”
Xue Yu smiled. “It’s indescribable. You wouldn’t understand.”
After waiting for several days, Xue Yu finally got her mercenary teammate.
It was actually Squid Man, whom she had defeated before. Squid Man was still bald, with a cold and stern expression.
The two of them had a simple exchange, and with their equipment ready, they went to the Fu’an Mining District.
In the mining district, Xue Yu saw many of her old acquaintances and co-workers. Everyone was happy that Xue Yu had become a real soldier and asked her what she was doing there.
Xue Yu said that she had accepted a mission to get rid of the ant-men under the mine.
The co-workers were at a loss. “Are there ant-men here? What are ant-men?”
Xue Yu hadn’t replied yet.
Squid Man said, “It’s a new type of Abomination. They are building their own nests under the mining district. It’s very dangerous. Everyone, please inform each other and stay in your dorms tonight. Don’t come out. After we eliminate the ant-men, it will be safe for you to mine in the future.”
The miners nodded. “I see. Then thank you for your hard work. Be safe.”
In the evening, Xue Yu and Squid Man entered the G12 tunnel, their submachine guns in front of them, and went all the way down to the bottom of the mine.
There were two branch tunnels inside. Xue Yu and Squid Man separated, each entering a branch.
After walking for half an hour in the continuously descending tunnel, Xue Yu finally saw the so-called ant-men. They were still digging, holding shovels and hoes in their hands, their movements exactly like humans.
Xue Yu secretly loaded her magazine. She contacted Squid Man and told him, “The ant-men are over here.”
Squid Man: I don’t see any ant-men on my side. They should all be on your side. I’m coming over now. Wait for me before you shoot.
Xue Yu: Okay.
Xue Yu hid in the dark and was about to retreat a little when the ant-man in front of her suddenly heard a noise and walked towards her with a shovel.
Xue Yu raised her gun and got ready.
The ant-man came to her and let out a surprised voice from under its black ant shell. “Xue Yu? You’re back? Didn’t you go to the naval combat team?”
This voice was very familiar to Xue Yu. It was her former co-worker, a big sister who often mined in the same tunnel.
“It’s really you, Xue Yu! Why are you back? Were you kicked out of the naval combat team?” The ant-man held Xue Yu’s hand. “Oh well, it’s fine. We can just continue to mine. Anyway, we won’t starve to death from mining.”
“Why aren’t you talking, Xue Yu? It’s me, Sister Wenying. Oh, you don’t recognize me anymore?”
The ant-man waved its hand in front of Xue Yu and then tugged at the black shell on its body. “You don’t recognize me in these clothes, do you? This is a radiation-proof suit issued by the Manster Center. It’s called an ant-man suit. They say it can protect against radiation.”
Xue Yu sensed that something was not right. “How long have you been in this mine?”
Sister Wenying laughed happily. “About a week, I’m not sure. Anyway, we received a new mission to hurry up and dig this tunnel. There’s a bonus when we’re done, 2,000 New Dollars!”
A few other ant-men also came over. Sister Wenying introduced them to everyone. “This is our old friend, Xue Yu. Hahaha, look, she’s become a soldier. This equipment is so cool.”
Several ant-men gathered around Xue Yu. They sat in the tunnel, took out rations and water to share with Xue Yu, and kept asking her about her situation in the naval combat team.
Xue Yu saw that the ant-men were also drinking water and eating. Their ant-shell clothes seemed to be connected to their masks. When they ate and drank, they would open the opening at the mouth.
Xue Yu received a call from the mission center. It was the person in charge. “How is it? Have you seen the ant-men?”
Xue Yu: “I have.”
The person in charge: “The ant-men are very deceptive. Remember not to communicate with them. Kill them all. Throw the grenades in to blow up their nests. You don’t have to worry about the bodies. We will send cleaners to deal with them.”
Xue Yu: “Okay.”
She really couldn’t tell if these ant-men were people or the so-called “ant-men.”
Several of their voices were exactly the same as her former co-workers, with no mistakes in their tone or intonation.
Xue Yu felt suspicious and secretly sent a message to Zhuang Xinzhang: Xinzhang, where is Sister Wenying lately? Which tunnel is she in?
Zhuang Xinzhang quickly replied: I think she went to the G12 tunnel. There’s a new mission in that tunnel, and there’s a bonus for mining there. A lot of people went.
Xue Yu: How long has she been there?
Zhuang Xinzhang: About a week.
Xue Yu realized that the mission she had accepted might not be to kill ant-men, but to kill real miners.
No wonder Zhou Siyan had never heard of the species of ant-men.
The mechanical mining technology of the White Tower had just been adopted a while ago. It seemed that because the White Tower no longer needed so many miners, they had created this fake mission to have mercenaries come and get rid of these miners.
Xue Yu asked, “Sister Wenying, can you take off this ant-man suit?”
Sister Wenying: “I can’t. There’s radiation here. The experts said I can’t take it off.”
Xue Yu took out an instrument from her waist. “It’s fine. You can take it off. It’s too hot to wear this. This is a radiation cleaning instrument. When it’s on, it can eliminate the radiation in a fifty-meter radius.”
“That’s great,” Sister Wenying took off the black mask on her head, revealing a complete human face.
Xue Yu could confirm her guess. These “ant-men” were not some kind of Abomination. They were real people, all her former miner co-workers.
